How Fanfuse Works

Simple to pick up. Hard to put down. Built for fans who love the game.

01

Pick your squad

There are up to 11 groups of similarly-talented players. Pick exactly one player from each group to form your season or tournament squad. You can change your picks any time up to 1 hour before kick-off.

02

Score points the easy way

Every goal your players score adds points to your total. Goalkeepers earn points for clean sheets. For tournaments, goals in extra time and penalties in 90/120 minutes count. Penalty shootouts do not count. Some games use a goal multiplier so that harder-to-score groups are worth more. Each group shows its multiplier on the My Squad page (for example "×3 pts per goal"), and the totals are worked out automatically each week. Captaincy is applied after the multiplier — a captain in a ×3 group scoring one goal earns 6 points. THERE ARE NO MULTIPLIERS ON EUROPEAN COMPETITIONS PREMIER LEAGUE 2026-27 MULTIPLIERS: Superstars, Elite & Creators (groups 1–3): 1 goal = 1 point Legends, Newbies, Consistent, Wildcards & Left or Right (groups 4, 5, 6, 9, 10): 1 goal = 2 points Midfield Generals, Defensive Contributions & Goalies (groups 7, 8, 11): 1 goal (or clean sheet) = 3 points The World Cup 2026 game is unaffected — every goal there is worth 1 point. Multipliers are set per group by the organisers and can change between events.

03

Captain a star each round

For every round of games, captain one player from your squad. Their points double for that round. You can change your captain between rounds but not during one — captains lock 1 hour before the first kick-off of each round. In football seasons, the captaincy lasts one week, so choose wisely based on who they are playing, injuries or other priorities, like cup games. You can choose the captain for every week in advance. There is no vice captain. If the captain does not play, there is no second chance. Prefer to set and forget? Use "Captain all season" on your My Squad page to make the same player your captain every week until you decide otherwise.

How "Captain all season" works:

  • It applies your chosen player as captain to every round that hasn't locked yet — locked and completed rounds are never changed.
  • Switch it off at any time: all captaincy points already earned are kept, but that player is no longer doubled in future rounds unless you captain them again for individual weeks.
  • Turn it back on whenever you like — it only counts from that point forward. No historic points are added, apart from weeks where they were already captain.
04

Transfers & substitution windows

Once the tournament is live, your squad locks — but there are open windows where you can swap players. A 24-hour window opens on the 1st of every month (or the 31st of the previous month if the 1st has fixtures). All windows run on GMT, and My Squad shows a live countdown — to the lock while your squad is open, and to the next transfer window once it's locked. Players flagged as injured (orange banner) or transferred (red banner) can only be replaced during an open window. If you transfer out a player who hasn't played their full quota due to fixture clashes, you forfeit those points and the additional game to be played.

For domestic seasons, five extended transfer periods:

  • 24 Aug – 28 Sep 2026 (19:00 UK)
  • 29 Jan – 1 Feb 2027 (23:00 UK)
  • International break ending Mon 5 Oct 2026 (11:59 UK)
  • International break ending Mon 16 Nov 2026 (11:59 UK)
  • International break ending Mon 29 Mar 2027 (11:59 UK)

Climb the global leaderboard

The main league is open to everyone. Your total points across the whole tournament determine your rank. The #1 spot gets the trophy; ties are broken by how many rounds your captain was the round's top scorer.

06

Build your own private league

Want a league just for your mates, family or workmates? Head to "My leagues" and hit "New private league". Pick the tournament to play against (like the World Cup or Premier League), name your league, add a short description and set your own house rules — for example "no trash talk, no ringers, loser buys the drinks". Add prizes for the winners, top 3 or create a your own sweepstake... nothing like a bit of cash to sweeten the competition.

How invites and admin work:

  • Share your invite: every league gets a unique code AND a direct link (fanfusegame.com/join/YOUR-CODE). Copy the link and drop it in WhatsApp, iMessage, email or Slack — friends tap it, see who invited them, and join with one click.
  • You're the league admin: rename it, edit the rules, or regenerate the code any time (which instantly invalidates the old link).
  • Keep it clean: as admin you can remove anyone breaking the rules straight from the members list, and their scores drop out of your leaderboard immediately.
  • Your private league runs on the same players, rounds and scores as the parent tournament — you just get your own private leaderboard.
